This is an exciting time at SPMUD! With multiple projects in process, SPMUD is searching for an experienced and motivated team-player that is up to the task of carrying SPMUD’s priorities through development and implementation of capital improvement projects.

Under the supervision of the District Engineer, the Associate Engineer will manage and support capital expansion and renewal projects while overall supporting the efforts and goals of the Technical Services Department. This position will work closely with individuals from neighboring jurisdictions and community partners, as well as directly with contractors and other supporting staff.

SPMUD is seeking an experienced civil engineer with utility experience, who thrives on community-centered service, embodies SPMUD’s values, and has a proven record for complex project development and management.

The ideal candidate must have sound decision-making skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects at any given time.   Emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills are a must, as well as the ability to operate under a high level of autonomy.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited College or University in civil engineering or a closely related field.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience preferably with demonstrated experience in collection systems (or a related underground utility).
• Possession of a Valid California Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
• California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Certification in Collection System Maintenance at the Grade I level within 12 months.

Annual Salary: $117,000 - $142,200
